McMurdo Station
The town of McMurdo Antarctica, one of the
largest bases in Antarctica. It is located on an island of
volcanic rock, surrounded by sea ice (temporary and permanent).
Temporary sea ice melts out each year, bringing with it sea
life and a new season. The station has many buildings, quansut
huts and science equipment for the study of science... the
only reason why we are down there.... to study science. It
is one of the most pristine places on earth, untouched by
society (polution, etc). This makes Antarctica one of the
premier places to study earth sciences.

SCOTTS HUT
Many remnants of Antarctic explorers are left
on this island; they simply picked up and left when their
rescue arrived. Shackleton's and Scott were two explorers
who left buildings. Because the air is so dry and cold the
huts and it's contents remain almost untouched, not much biodegraded.
Shackleton's Hut, from his adventure written
in the book, "Endurance".

Scott's Hut -- Inside, bottles, cans, food,
.... it's all there.

still hanging on the walls.
